What an interesting journey this has been, and it has only just begun, some 14 years ago, that is. Interesting, in part, because I became a father not yet knowing that I was autistic, and once I found out, my perspective on fatherhood changed rather dramatically. The diagnosis raised several questions and concerns. Will I be able to handle the responsibilities of parenthood going forward? How will my newly discovered autism profile affect my son? How will my son's growth trajectory affect me? Will I be able to live up to society's expectations around being a good father and husband, considering that these expectations stem from an essentially neurotypical point of view?

We were thrilled to present information about Floreo to a group from The Council of Autism Providers. We were recently inducted into CASP as a business affiliate via an invitation from current Floreo customer and research partner Kadiant. We are excited to welcome a new member to the Floreo team. Dr. Paul Ballas is a physician and board certified child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist whose  practice is focused on children and adults with ASD. In addition, Paul has experience consulting with leading digital therapy companies. Prior to joining Floreo, Paul was a Regional Medical Director at Cognoa. Paul will be working primarily on our FDA and other regulatory strategies as we continue to grow our offerings.

With our telehealth capabilities, you can move seamlessly between in-person or remote sessions to help improve outcomes for your students and clients no matter what situation you find yourself in!

I founded Floreo in 2016 based on a deeply personal connection with autism spectrum disorder. I saw first-hand the challenges that children with ASD faced with learning social and executive functioning skills, and how a child could respond positively through the use of virtual reality technology as a tool to aid the development of social and executive functioning skills. Now, looking ahead to 2022 and beyond, I see an accelerating demand for technologies that can help address the practical needs of the growing population of neurodiverse individuals. 

One of the most frequently asked questions we get is: "When will you be compatible with other VR headsets like Oculus Quest?" We are excited to say that our talented team is hard at work on a version of Floreo for the Quest.

It is always exciting to see our name in the press! We were thrilled to be highlighted as one of the top 8 VR applications in healthcare along with seven other impressive companies. We are excited to see what the rest of the year brings!
